Simple Barbecue Marinades

Summertime means more outdoor grilling. You can easily dress up your barbecue fare by using simple rubs and marinades. Next time you are ready for some outdoor cooking, try some of these easy recipes.
Beer Marinade
1 can beer
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Tangy Marinade
1 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup wine vinegar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons dried mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
For each marinade, mix all ingredients together. Place meat into a large zip top bag and pour marinade over. Let sit for at least 30 minutes and up to 8 hours. 

Rubs
Fancy Beef Rub
2 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon ground bay leaf
1 teaspoon black pepper

Lemon Pepper Rub
3 teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
For each rub, combine all ingredients and rub onto the surface of the meat. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for 30 minutes. Then grill as usual.
